Thanks. BTW…I have no gym to go to, just bodyweight, and the above listed materials I will be getting….
I also have a stationary bike and a gazelle (the equipment, not the animal).
And I have a lot of room to run if need be…got a whole forest path in my town.
Yeah, I’m also starting to aim for about 1500 calories a day.

I just recently decided to start exercising. I know that it will be good for my health in the long run so I want to start. I have recently gained about 10-15 pounds due to a new job and want to return to my previous weight. Actually, I am not really concerned about my weight, I am more concerned with trimming my flabby parts and getting toned. I am a 25 year old female at 5′5 and currently weigh 125. I was around 110 when I started this job back in April 07 (and I still had flab than). I would like to be able to fit back into my clothes from spring of last year. I know that I can’t loose weight in just one area because weight-loss is lost all over. I do know that I can help tone certain areas and be more aggressive in my troublesome areas. What I want to know is what kind of exercises are good for a beginner? I have the use of a treadmill, exercise ball, weight-lifting machine, stair-stepper, kettlebell, resistance bands, and a small trampoline. My main areas of concern of course is my stomach and obliques. I have mostly subcutaneous fat (the kind you can see and feel, the kind that sits on top of the muscles and not underneath). I know that everyone has a little bit visceral fat but I don’t have hardly any of that. (When I tighten my stomach it’s even with my rib cage except for the flab.) Any help would be appreciated. Also, could you recommend any exercises that I could do while I’m at my office job for 8 hours a day?

Thanks
I have heard that combining cardio with weight lifting can help burn more calories. I also heard that weight lifting should be done prior to cardio.
I always take the steps and I always walk to tell someone something when I’m in the office. I’m not lazy by any means when it comes to moving around at work. Oh I forgot to mention, I don’t get a lunch break so the exercise would have to be done at my desk!

I work out a lot, either if its kettlebells, bodyweight, or regular olympic weights. Usually after I exercise, I’ll go running outside, usually between 5-10 miles every other day. I notice all the time that people always give me strange looks and even dirty looks. Since when did it become uncool to exercise? What the hell!?

LANEY asked:

I want to run a Marathon in September. I have run many 5K’s and a few 10K’s. Three years ago, I ran a half marathon.

Currently, I really have not been running as much. Maybe 3 miles here and there. But I do indoor cycling and kettlebell (cardio, weight class…very intense) several times a week.

I am going to be signing up for the distance program through Fleet Feet, to help me prepare for the Marathon. They set up a training schedule and have seminars on nutrition, stretching etc. They also sign you up for a 12K…early Sept. The Marathon is on Sept. 13th. The training will begin tomorrow.

My question is….do you think that a 4 month training program is enough? I really want to run…obviously not for time. This is really important to me. Are there any pointers, tips etc. And do I have to watch my diet a little more so now during the training?

Any pointers would be appreciated. And btw I am no spring chicken..lol. I am in my mid thirties, but consider myself to be in good shape. But, lets face it…a Marathon is on a whole other level…:)

I’ve been using kettlebells for the past month now for the first time ever, and I’ve been seeing incredible gains, much more than using barbells and dumbells. I love them!!
I have a problem, I can’t seem to work my lats into my regiment, I want a workout that doesn’t shred my rotator cup. Anyone using ‘bells that has a lat workout, please give suggestions. Thanks!!

Dont Tread On Me… asked:

Does anyone know of any workout routines that consist of mostly body gravity exercises? (i.e. Push ups, pull ups, etc)

I had been doing a SEAL workout when I peaked but did not know of another routine to switch to so I could stimulate my muscles and keep my body guessing.

I’m looking for something a little more documented… Any idiot can tell me to just do some pushups, I was hoping for an actual routine (like CrossFit, but not CrossFit)

I haven’t worked out since I hurt my shoulder about 8 weeks ago, but I’m fine now. The only weights I would like to use would be kettlebells, but a little bit of lifting as part of the routine is fine.

Thanks

Evidence II asked:

I read they can improve your jumping, strenght and mobility qualities.

in some Italian bodybuilding forums i read they are a sort of weights but better because they forced some muscles that without those aren’t enough trained, that with normal weights it’s hard to train.

They say that many Basketball, Football and Rugby players use those, to improve explosivity, body control and athletism

Is that true? Is there someone of you who use it?
If i wanna buy, do them cost a lot??!

i’m doing at the moment plyo-metrics exercises to maintein my elevation or improve it…. Should i stop or can i do it with Kettlebells exercises at the same time?

Thanks
